Description
The First Company CP81-70 Orifice Piston is a fixed refrigerant metering component that seats into the liquid line inlet or distributor assembly of an evaporator coil, forming a precisely bored 0.070-inch restriction through which liquid refrigerant passes before entering the evaporator circuit. As high-pressure liquid reaches the orifice the bore drops its pressure and partially flashes it into vapor in HVAC systems. A deviation in either direction shifts the superheat reading outside the acceptable range, leading to coil flooding or compressor overheating. Stamped for identification and sized for direct exchange, it restores metering accuracy during coil operation without requiring field adjustment.
