The Lennox 93M08 Crankcase Heater prevents refrigerant migration and oil dilution by maintaining compressor temperature above ambient conditions during off-cycles. This 90-watt, 575-volt resistance in the heater wraps around or mounts beneath the compressor shell, delivering continuous low-level heat that keeps lubricating oil warm, and fluid. It energizes whenever the evaporator stops in HVAC systems, preventing liquid refrigerant from condensing into cold oil, where it reduces the viscosity and fluidity. The heater’s wattage provides sufficient thermal input without excessive energy consumption during the standby periods, and ensures clean, slug-free startups under cold ambient conditions.
