The Trane HTR10246 Crankcase Heater is a resistance heating element constructed with 18 AWG wiring, delivering dual-rated output of 70 watts at 575 volts and 56 watts at 460 volts for compressor crankcase temperature control. It operates by converting electrical energy into heat through a resistive coil, warming compressor oil to prevent refrigerant migration and dilution during shutdown periods. Used in scroll and reciprocating compressors, condensing units, HVAC systems, it protects lubrication quality, reduces liquid refrigerant accumulation inside the crankcase, and promotes stable compressor start behavior by maintaining appropriate oil temperature conditions during idle operation.
