Wrapped around the outer base of the compressor housing in outdoor units of HVAC systems, the 70-watt electrical heating element operates on a 120V power circuit. Delivering low-wattage thermal energy maintains compressor oil temperatures above the ambient dew point, causing any liquid refrigerant mixed with the oil to vaporize. Keeping the lubricant warm preserves oil density, prevents bearing damage during freezing startups, and supports continuous compressor mechanical operation.
