The Carrier 39TA-R050780308 is a Thermal Expansion Valve complete kit for Carrier systems with R22 refrigerant and 5-ton capacity. The TXV itself is approximately 5 x 4 x 3 inches, while the kit contains everything one might need for easy installation. The TXV is essential in controlling the refrigerant circulation in the system. In contrast with the pressure-based valves, it used a temperature-sensitive component. When the evaporator coil cools, the element expands and the valve is opened and more liquid refrigerant is allowed to enter so as to absorb heat.
