Description
The Copeland Comfort Control (Alco) 058421 Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) is designed to regulate liquid refrigerant flow into 1/2-ton evaporator coils. Installed in the liquid line using 3/8-inch inlet and 1/2-inch outlet ODF connections in HVAC systems, it uses a remote sensing bulb to monitor suction line temperatures. Thermal expansion or contraction within the bulb shifts an internal valve pin to adjust the metering orifice size. Modulating liquid refrigerant feed rate maintains proper evaporator superheat, controls refrigerant expansion and supports efficient thermal transfer under low-capacity cooling loads.
