The Lennox 22W68 High Limit Switch monitors the heat exchanger within the unit and opens the control circuit when the sensed temperature reaches its fixed the threshold of 165°F, shutting down the burner to prevent overheating. It runs through a sensing element that responds to the excess heat by the snapping open the switch contact at the rated setpoint, interrupting the control signal before the thermal damage reaches to the surrounding parts.
