The Trane MAYTXVACHP4848A Thermostatic Expansion Valve(TXV) is a refrigerant metering assembly that regulates liquid flow entering the evaporator according to changing thermal conditions. A sensing element responds to temperature and pressure at the coil outlet, causing the internal passage to adjust and control the amount of refrigerant supplied to the vaporizer on HVAC systems. The 4-ton capacity corresponds to the intended cooling load and allows the feed rate to match the coil’s operating demand. Positioned between the liquid line and evaporator inlet, the assembly controls the transition into the coil.
