The Trane RLY03031 Time Delay Relay 5 Minute is an essential control module used to introduce a delay before energizing or re-energizing a control circuit in HVAC systems. It is used as anti-short-cycle protection equipment that temporarily holds off compressor or contactor activation after a call for heating or cooling or after a power interruption. It is installed in condensing units’ control panels where compressor protection is required to prevent rapid cycling, reduce startup stress, and allow refrigerant pressures to equalize before restart. It extending compressor service life by enforcing a controlled restart interval.
