The Trane VAL11172 Electronic Expansion Valve(EEV) is a refrigerant metering assembly that regulates flow entering the evaporator through electronically controlled movement. A motor-driven mechanism adjusts the internal opening in response to signals from the system controller, allowing the refrigerant feed to change according to operating demand. The 2-ton capacity corresponds to the intended cooling load, providing a flow range suited to the associated evaporator circuit. Electrical commands determine the position of the internal needle or passage in HVAC systems, giving the controller proper influence over refrigerant movement.
