The Trane VAL11978 5-ton Thermal Expansion Valve is compatible with R-410A refrigerant. This is an essential part of HVAC systems and measures the amount of liquid refrigerant to be admitted into the evaporator. The manner it works is to be able to detect and regulate the amount of refrigerant flow through the evaporator depending on its temperature and pressure conditions. This dynamic control provides the better heat exchange while at the same time protecting the compressor from liquid refrigerant which is a damaging. This valve is mainly applied in commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning applications including chillers, rooftop units, and process cooling.
