Description
The Copeland Comfort Control (Alco) 053069 Thermal Expansion Valve meters liquid refrigerant into 2-ton evaporator coils operating on R-12 refrigerant. Fitted into liquid lines via 3/8-inch inlet and 1/2-inch outlet flare connections in existing HVAC systems, it uses a 5-foot capillary tube with a remote sensing bulb to monitor suction line conditions. Thermal changes at the bulb actuate an internal diaphragm to vary orifice sizing. Modulating refrigerant expansion maintains proper superheat, balances liquid feed rates, and supports stable refrigeration performance.
