The Carrier LH680003 Pilot Flame Sensor Assembly detects an active flame within a furnace burner section and transmits a confirmation signal to the control board. It measures ionization current produced by combustion, verifying whether ignition has occurred before allowing gas flow to continue. The assembly secures onto the bracket through a single fastening point, positioning the sensing rod directly within the flame path. Integrated into HVAC systems, this component shuts off fuel supply when no current is detected, preventing unburned gas accumulation during each startup sequence.
