Description
The Trane VAL08716 Expansion Valve (TXV) R410A meters liquid refrigerant entering a 3-ton evaporator coil. Its variable internal orifice responds to thermal conditions in the suction line and adjusts the refrigerant feed accordingly. The 3/8-inch inlet and 1/2-inch outlet provide connections for the refrigerant piping at the valve. Positioned before the evaporator it controls the amount of refrigerant released into the coil as operating conditions change. In HVAC systems, this metering action maintains evaporator superheat while controlling refrigerant expansion and feed through the cooling coil. It also reduces the possibility of unevaporated liquid returning to the compressor.
