Description
The Trane VAL11879 is a thermal expansion valve, TXV used in air conditioning or heat pump technologies. It controls conditions of the refrigerant supplied to the evaporator coil depending on its temperature and pressure. In the case of the TXV, warm, high-pressure liquid refrigerant flows in and experiences a pressure and temperature drop through a small orifice. Crossing the thermal diode in this path, this low-pressure and low-temperature refrigerant then circulates to the evaporator where it collects heat from the air. The TXV keeps the evaporator at its best superheat to enhance the cooling process and ensure that no liquid refrigerant gets into the compressor since this will damage it. This valve is applied to Trane HVAC equipment to increase system efficiency, maintain desired temperatures, and increase reliability.
