The Trane VAL8976 5-Ton Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) operates as a critical component for effective operation in air – conditioning and heat pump systems. The R410A refrigerant flow through the evaporator coil receives precise control from this valve which adapts automatically to cooling requirements of the system. The TXV valve maintains proper refrigerant flow to allow only vapor refrigerant into the compressor thus protecting the compressor from damaging liquid slugging. This device operates through a 3/8 X 1/2″ ODF connection point and functions in systems with 5-ton residential and light commercial HVAC units.
